What to Know About Keyword Density

The definition of keyword density is the amount of times a keyword or keyword phase appears in any given web page. When you calculate the percentage of times the keyword shows up in the web page compared to the overall content you get the keyword density. When people begin to search for something on the Internet or they do research on the web they typically will not know what the exact website is that will give them the information they are looking for. Therefore, people take advantage of a search engine and type in keywords related to their search and the search engine, such as Google, will display all the related websites in order of their relevance. Search engines use many different methods to rank websites and one of those methods is keyword density.

When you are writing content to be placed on the Internet you should be aware of this for your website. Although this is an important idea for a website or any other web content it should be a concept that is understood and not misused. You can get better rankings by having an optimal amount of keywords on your website, but you can also have too many keywords. If your density is too high it could be looked at as spam and then it could have a negative impact on the rankings of the search engine. The object is not to write content that has so many keywords that it does not make sense or does not have any useful information. The search engines like Google strive to provide relevant and useful information and websites that have a high keyword density usually do not fit that bill. The optimal keyword density is typically around 2 percent. Meaning that out of all the words on your web page, 2 percent of them are keywords or keyword phrases. Anything more than this begins to feel intentional and cluttered although that is not the minimum number that can be effectively used.

Keyword density can have a powerful impact on your traffic. If you are able to provide actual relevant content to your target audience with meaningful keywords you will not only have people searching for your web page on Google but you will also have people that would like to link with your site and so forth. So by having good keyword density and relevant information your site has the potential to be ranked fairly high on the search engines.

The other aspect to keyword density is the research behind it. There is little advantage to having an optimal keyword density for content that is competitive or does not get searched at all. Therefore, there is a process of selection so that you have a relevant keyword and an optimal keyword density. The thing to avoid when writing content for the web in which you wish people to search for, is to not have too many different keywords or keyword phrases. If there are too many different keywords, although you might be able to maintain them all at 2 percent, the search engines will not rank your page very high. So its best to stick with one to three keywords within your web page. One thing that is a little bit of a controversy is on the use misspelled words as keywords. The idea behind this is to cut down on the competition because people type words in wrong all the time. I am not a big fan of this because I am trying to provide useful information to my audience. Having 2 percent of my content be misspelled is unprofessional and might deflect people from my site as opposed to attract them like it should.

There is a proper technique to having good content on the web with optimal keyword density and it should be used at all times when writing content for the web. It was mentioned before that this search engine optimization strategy is not the only way to increase rank in the search engines, however it should be a consideration for every piece of writing you publish on the web because it is important to be aware of this topic. There are many other methods that should have consideration when writing content for the web. Therefore, it is important to be knowledgeable about as many as possible if you truly want to have content that you publish be ranked on the Internet.

Newspaper Classifieds Becoming Obsolete

Woman circling want ads in newspaper

Using newspaper classifieds to advertise a product or service has far more disadvantages than advantages. The fact is that most people these days are using the Internet to research purchases and desired services at a far greater rate, than looking in the newspaper classifieds for these same items. The Internet gives you many different analytical tools to research and design your ad campaign, something which you can not do with the same ease using newspaper classifieds. Here I will explain some of the main advantages and disadvantages of using newspaper classified ads, as well as make recommendations for replacing this method.

One of the main advantages to newspaper classifieds is that it can be easier to target a specific geographic area, since newspapers are typically delivered to a large amount of people in a specific region. The other advantage is that you have flexibility to choose where your ad appears in the newspaper. This can help because you have the ability to strategically place your ad in a way that catches a readers eye. However when you use the Internet, you have a lot of optimization work to do in order to strategically place the ad to be displayed in a specific region.

The biggest disadvantage you face with newspaper classifieds is the cost. Placing ads in newspaper classifieds is expensive. You are charged a fairly expensive fee for a space in the newspaper. On top of that, newspaper classifieds offer no analytics. What this means is that you have no way to know if your ad is effective aside from sales. You don’t know who is actually looking at your ad either. Another disadvantage to newspaper classifieds is the fact that your ad is placed in the same location as your competition. It’s not a very efficient advertising technique due to this. With traditional advertising methods like the newspaper classifieds, you are faced with the fact that you must send your ad to a lot of people, and the majority of these people have no desire to purchase your product or service.

The Internet, however, steps in nicely and turns these disadvantages into advantages. There are a lot of advertising techniques using the web that are free. Since the advertising is free, you don’t have to worry about the time frame in which your ad is available. You can post your ad on the Internet, and leave it there permanently or for as long as it is relevant. You can also post as many ads as you want, targeting as many different niches. Using the Internet, you have a vast array of research tools available to you. With these tools, you can research what people are looking for and what the competition is for the keywords you have chosen. When you have the proper tools to research, you can design and strategically plan your advertising campaign.

Newspapers, in general, are slowly becoming obsolete as more and more readers choose to read their news online. Likewise, newspaper classified advertising is decreasing as more and more marketers are turning towards advertising on the Internet instead. The Internet continues to grow in size and offers the greatest flexibility. The Internet offers a global audience, thus allowing your free advertising to allow you to profit immensely. Before you place your next ad, take a look at what the Internet has to offer in terms of marketing and advertising, and weigh your cost analysis between the two marketing methods.

Viral Web Marketing – The Ultimate Goal

Have you ever watched one of those YouTube videos that seems to get a lot of attention within a short period of time? You might have been notified of it through a friend or co-worker? These videos have the benefit of something called “viral,” because like a virus they exponentially increase the audience in a short period of time. This is the goal of something called Viral Web Marketing. When you release content there are specific techniques that you can use in order to get some of your content to go viral. These Viral Web Marketing techniques can be very powerful at driving traffic to your site but they are not always 100%. It must catch on and grow which means that it has to be relevant content, not have a lot of competition, and have no limitations.

The main benefit of Viral Web Marketing is the fact that you do not have to spend a lot of time or money to market your content and site. You let others market for you. If you find something that can catch on, then others will market the content for you and hopefully they will push people to your site which means that with minimal effort you have achieved maximum marketing range. This means a lot when the Internet is such a large market. The best technique is to market to someones emotions. In Viral Web Marketing the goal is for you to get someone to take your material and tell someone else about it and so on. Therefore in order for Viral Web Marketing to work effectively you must make the marketing memorable. Why would someone tell their friends and co-workers about your site if it wasn’t memorable. In order to make you site memorable you have to be able to ascertain some emotion for your audience. This means marketing that has relevant content that serves a specific purpose and the marketing must be done with a certain level of passion and zest. You must also have a specific side or opinion. Viral Web Marketing will never work with neutrality.

The content must be unique and interesting as well. If there is a lot of competition and a lot of similar content, Viral Web Marketing will not work. If people have seen it before, they will not jump to market your content and it will not get very far with someone who has already seen it. Viral Web Marketing cannot have limitations as well. What this means is that when you have content people must have full access to share it and give opinions about it with ease. This means no restrictions on comments, no followup emails to get access to the content, and it can’t be hidden six levels deep with teasers on every page. The content you are trying to market must be freely available and accessible.

If you are able to accomplish this, Viral Web Marketing will generate infinite traffic to your site, video or other content you have on the web that you would like others to see. Although the techniques are very powerful, using Viral Web Marketing is not an easy task. It is not easy to come up with truly unique content that sparks interest in the audience, with no limitations, and be able to spread far enough to make a difference. Another challenge is when to use it and when not to. You don’t want all your web content to spark emotion in your users. Sometimes people search for content and want something that is concise, factual and procedural. The key to making Viral Web Marketing beneficial is to use it at the right time with the right content.

How to Get Rich Online

Counting Wad of Cash

With over 1.8 billion online users worldwide, you would be crazy not to consider leveraging the Internet to get rich online. 70% of online users jump on the Internet before making a purchase. And there are over 20 million people (just in the United States) who are unemployed. Use this to your advantage. The Internet is a huge market and there is plenty of room for more people to get rich online. Learn how to get rich online if you want to change your future.

First and foremost, if you want to get rich online, you have to learn how to market online. That is the #1 secret to get rich online. Whether you choose to join a mentoring program, or take a class on Internet marketing, or read books on the subject at the library, this should be your first step on your path to making money online.

Once you know how to market online, you can get rich online with anything. You can join an MLM team and rock the house, or you can start an ecommerce site selling products, or market a business opportunity online. The sky is the limit here. You will want to decide which route you want to go first, and don’t overwhelm yourself by jumping into a lot of opportunities at first – this step comes later. Unless you choose to join an MLM, you will want to research different niches. There are different thoughts on which niche is the right one, that is a whole other article. After you have your niche, market it like there is no tomorrow. If you choose to market an online business opportunity, consider marketing to real estate agents (they may not be doing so well with the current housing market) or to those on unemployment searching endlessly for a job…

No matter which route you go, the next golden nugget to keep in mind, is that you shouldn’t stop there. Once you feel comfortable with your success, whether that’s earning $5k a month, or $10k a month of steady online income, branch out. As an Internet “entrepreneur” you should always be on the lookout for additional streams of income online. You won’t get rich online with just one method. Say you choose MLM, great now once you are building a steady income and downline, open up an online retail store. Once that is paying for itself, start another web store selling something completely different, then jump into affiliate marketing! Once you know how to market yourself, or a product, or a business online, you really can make money selling anything online.

Whatever opportunity you choose to join first, just make sure you have the passion for it. If you don’t, your fire will burn out quickly and you will be discouraged and probably not get back up again “online”. Once you are making money and profiting with your first venture, your passion for the niche, product, or opportunity isn’t as important. Why? Because you will be seasoned and confident as an online marketer and Internet entrepreneur.

Twitter Marketing Tips

Twitter is a fast growing social networking tool and a microblogging service. Twitter enables you to send tiny little blurbs about anything, using no more than 140 characters. You can send out a blurt (aka tweet) about your day, what you are eating, or a new book your reading. Anything you can think of, you can pretty much say. Twitter can be a great self-promotion tool, if used wisely.

When marketing yourself or your business online, Twitter would be a great addition to your marketing arsenal. With over 105 million Twitter users, and 300,000 users signing up with Twitter daily, Twitter is a must for marketers. I have outlined some core tips for how to market with Twitter. These tips are not limited to the categories below, but they will get your brain thinking about other ways that Twitter can help you market yourself, your service or product:

Retailers, Ecommerce Stores: Tweet your sales and deals. Offering coupons? Tweet them! Here is an example of a tweet, “@ABC Retail Store: 20% off any one item at our store throughout the weekend. Hurry and grab the latest Nike apparel, or Gucci handbags! 50% off all clearance!”

Got a Blog? Tweet a link to your latest blog posts for more exposure. You are sure to attract new readers! Use an URL shortener to fit your long URLs in without exceeding your character limits. Make sure to mix in tweets about you personally if you are marketing yourself in the blog, and not necessarily a product or business. I am not talking about giving out your SSN and Drivers license! I am talking about tweeting about your day, and events throughout your week. Tweet about your likes and dislikes, or about the latest book you are reading.

Business Opportunity Website: Tweet about your opportunity, i.e. “@SuccessWithJaneDoe: Where will you be 6 months from now? Stuck in a financial rut? Join my team and be on your way to success! [link to site]” If you create a special report on say, “Success through Attraction Marketing Online” tweet a link to it! You would want to house it on your site, and have them download it there to get them on your site, rather than having them just go straight to a download.

Keep one thing in mind, don’t make it all about business! Your followers will soon tire of your promotional tweets. Focus on at least 20% of your tweets being personal. People want to get to know you to be able to trust you. Heck, you can tweet about how you just ate the best PB&J sandwich ever! Share ideas, ask questions of your followers, share interesting resources! Have fun with Twitter. Also be sure to put your website or blog link on your profile page.

Four Freebies to Offer Your Online Prospects

If you are an online marketer, you know how important it is to not just drive traffic to your website, but to get your online visitors to opt-in and enter in their email, name and/or phone number. Not only do your visitors have to trust you, but they want to know what is in it for them too.

Close-up of a gift Horizontal

You want to offer your prospects something of value, in exchange for them opt’ing in and entering in their information. Here I will outline four freebies that you can give away to those who choose to opt-in to your website or landing page.

1. eBook

No, I am not talking about sending them the latest Stephen King eBook! If you are marketing for an affiliate of say a bark collar, you can create an eBook on simple and easy dog training methods. After all, why are they looking for a bark collar anyways? They are probably at their last straw with their dog. You can create an eBook easily in Microsoft Word. Make a table of contents, and break it up into short chapters or sections, just as if it were a physical book. Then export the Word file into PDF (Google free PDF makers) and voila! You have your eBook.

2. Special Report

Instead of creating a book, you can make a short special report, a PDF file of anywhere from 3-10 pages. Let’s say you are marketing an SEO business opportunity. You could create a special report on the top 5 SEO marketing strategies. You would type this up in Microsoft Word, and again save it as a PDF file.

3. Video Boot Camp

Another idea is to promise your opt-in prospects a video boot camp. Once they sign up, they would be emailed a link every day or every week on a topic geared to your niche. I.e. How to build a blog in 7 days. You would create 7 short videos on instructing the viewer how to build a blog step-by-step. After the 7 days, you could send them a final email with a blow-out one time special offer regarding your product or business opportunity.

4. Email Newsletter

Here you could tell your prospects that you will email them your special newsletter on a specific topic, i.e. 30 days to success. You would create a newsletter campaign with your auto responder to email your opt-in, once a day for the next 30 days, a set of pre-created emails. You would create 30 different emails to be sent daily for 30 days once your prospects opt-in to your newsletter. So you would create an introduction email for day 1, on maybe how to get their mindset in the right place, and how to prep for success. Day 2 could be motivating quotes and then elaborate on things the most successful people do. Day 3′s email could be on the different ways to make money online, and so on and so forth.

Some of these methods may take longer for you to generate a sale, but its all about getting your prospects to trust you and see you as someone who provides them value. Goodluck!

Get out of your Rut as an Internet Marketer

How do I start? Where do I start? How do I do this? Is it working? What do I do next? Is this right? Do I have to do this? Is tomorrow okay?

Businessman sitting at desk with screwed up paper, head in hands

These questions are very prohibitive. They focus your attention on the future and not on the current tasks at hand. When you dwell on results its hard to move forward. This is a direct result of fear, which is an emotion that comes in anticipation of a future event. In the world of Internet marketing, fear can come in any number of ways. Lack of knowledge, failure, competition, work and personal perception to name a few. The Internet can be overwhelming at times, but I submit that the only obstacle in the way of your success - is your own thoughts.

You must focus your attention to the tasks at hand and not on the results of each individual task. This is not to say that goals are not important, because they are. Without goals there would be no drive for success. What I am talking about is moving forward and not standing still. John Maxwell says that “if we are in our comfort zone, we are not growing.” So answering the questions above should push you outside your comfort zone. The object of our endeavors is growth. Growth through overcoming obstacles, growth through success and meeting our goals, and growth through new knowledge.

There is something called mindfulness. It is the idea that you can recognize negative and prohibitive thoughts when they happen and act on those thoughts. It is a hard task to accomplish I must say, but if you begin to recognize these thought patterns in your head - it becomes easy to overcome the fears you might face in Internet marketing. When you begin to say how do I start or where do I start, you might read a book, look at a forum or blog, or watch a webinar. When you say when should I start, or put off your tasks for another day you should force yourself to start now. When you ask is this right, is this correct, or do I need to do this, you might try it and find out if it works through trial and error. Now we have taken the prohibitive thoughts that are stopping us from updating our blog, or writing an article, or making a call, and transform them into a positive action.

I am not just spitting this out. I have these thoughts nearly everyday. The key is having set goals and being able to recognize negative thoughts. When you recognize these thoughts you decipline yourself to take action through small steps. You take these small steps until you know how to start, where to start, what to do and when to do it. Now you are moving forward until you hit another wall and you might ask:

How do I start? Where do I start? How do I do this? Is it working? What do I do next? Is this right? Do I have to do this? Is tomorrow okay?

Now we can dwell on the unknown, the fear, and we will stand still. Or we can turn prohibitive and negative thoughts into small actions. As you can see this is a process in itself. But you might also see that this is growth, and growth usually leads to success or better opportunities.

“All the concepts about stepping out of your comfort zone mean nothing until you decide that your essential purpose, vision and goals are more important than your self-imposed limitations.”
                                                 – Robert White

The key is to recognize your self-imposed limitations and transform them into self-imposed facilitation. The facilitation of your dreams, your goals, your desires, and your success.
